SOFTWARE ENGINEER

TUG seeks a Software Engineer to support the design, development, integration, and testing of software systems for RF related applications and systems including Common Data Link (CDL).

Activities include design, software development, testing and documentation for several software applications. These applications include hardware simulation programs used as software test tools; web-browser based Graphical User Interfaces (GUIs) and back-end web server applications as well as video processing applications. The work will primarily be conducted on-site at the SSC PAC government facility, or at the TUG office near SPAWAR, using standard industry tools. Limited travel may be required in support of these duties.

The work will be performed largely on PC/Windows platforms using standard Windows tools and software. The candidate should be fully capable of effectively utilizing all elements of Microsoft Office.

Qualifications:

The candidate should have a BS degree in Computer Science (or other applicable discipline), and coursework and/or experience in the following:
•     Java or C# Programming
•     Java Swing, Google Web Toolkit (GWT), and/or SmartGWT is desirable
•     HTML, Javascript, and CSS experience desirable.

 

Residency and Clearance Requirements:

Eligibility for a security clearance is required (thus U.S. Citizenship is required).

Desired Skills and Qualifications:

The ideal candidate should have in addition to the required skills, experience in one or more of the following areas:

•  Experience with a web server such as JBOSS/Wildfly or Apache Tomcat.
•  Experience developing design documents and end-product documents such as user manuals and test procedures.
•  Familiarity with video editing software such as Corel Video Studio Pro.
•  Familiarity with MPEG2 transport stream or equivalent, and metadata concepts.
•  Experience configuring networks and routers (CCNA certification is a plus).
•  Experience with Linux and virtual machines such as Virtual Box is a plus.
•  Familiarity with Information Assurance concepts and Windows 7/10 system hardening is a plus.
•  Familiarity with Microsoft Word including the use of type styles and templates.
•  Familiarity with XML and XML Schema.
•  Familiarity with Eclipse or other IDE.
•  Familiarity with Distributed Source Code Control Systems (e.g., GIT, Mercurial, etc.), as well as software bug tracking systems.
•  JDBC experience with MyBatis or Hibernate is a plus.
